Houston Baptist University will host a debate between Rabbi Tovia Singer and Dr. Craig A. Evans on the topic “Was Jesus the Promised Jewish Messiah?” It will take place Saturday, November 8th at 7:00 pm in the Mabee Theater on HBU’s campus.
Rabbi Tovia Singer is well known as the Founder and Director of Outreach Judaism, an organization dedicated to countering the efforts of evangelical Christian groups who target Jews for conversion. As a world renowned public speaker, Rabbi Singer addresses more than 100 audiences a year. He is the author of the two-volume book “Let’s Get Biblical! Why Doesn’t Judaism Accept the Christian Messiah?,” and is a frequent g
uest on television and radio shows. For the past 12 years, he has been the host of one of Israel’s most compelling radio talk shows, “The Tovia Singer Show,” on Israel National Radio (Channel 7).
Dr. Craig A. Evans is a New Testament Scholar and the Payzant Distinguished Professor of New Testament at Acadia Divinity College of Acadia University, in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada. Dr. Evan is author and editor of more than 60 books and hundreds of articles and reviews. He also regularly lectures and gives talks at popular conferences and retreats on the historical Jesus, Archaeology, the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible.
